Peaking Season

Peaking Season or Transition

It has been an interesting season due to the weather this year. It makes me think we are experiencing a Chinese curse…. “I wish you interesting times”.

August and September are months that typically showcase Ontario Provincial Championships in many disciplines.

This means you as an athlete have been tweaking your training to get you ready for your specific goal Championship.

If you feel stale or you are injured, you probably have changed your focus to next year or Cyclocross. If you are looking forward to Cyclocross there is a great article in CYCLE ONTARIO volume 5 issue 1, 2008, page 11. Coach’s Corner written by Mike Garrigan you should read.

For those of you who are still gunning for your goals this season focus on these goals and I suggest pick one of them NOW! If you are chasing more than one, you may find you will scatter yourself too thin to achieve even one of your goals.

Each of the Championships require that you different training to maximize your results. Talk with your coach about your goals and how to make the adjustments in your training for you to achieve your Peak Performance.
